The Powermatic 209 20-inch planer with three-phase power is engineered for industrial woodworking environments that demand consistent output and dependable cutting performance. Driven by a 5 HP motor wired for 230/460V three-phase operation, this planer delivers smooth, uninterrupted power for surfacing wide stock and dense materials. Its 20-inch planing capacity supports efficient processing of larger workpieces, reducing handling time in production settings. The straight-knife cutterhead is fitted with four high-speed steel knives rotating at 5,000 RPM, generating up to 20,000 cuts per minute for clean, uniform results. A 5-inch dust port allows easy connection to dust collection systems to help maintain a cleaner shop environment. Stock control is enhanced by anti-kickback fingers and a pressure bar positioned close to the cutterhead, improving safety and surface quality. Built with heavy cast iron throughout the base, table, and head, the planer offers excellent rigidity and vibration dampening. The precision-ground cast iron table is supported by four steel columns to stabilize larger stock, while cast iron extension wings help maintain flatness. Material feed is powered by a two-speed oil-bath gearbox with feed rates of 24 and 31 feet per minute, and an included gear allows slower speeds of 16 and 20 FPM for finer finishing. Corrugated infeed and fine-groove outfeed rollers ensure smooth, reliable stock movement throughout the cut.
