The Powermatic 209HH heavy-duty 20-inch planer delivers professional-grade performance, durability, and value for commercial woodworking shops and production environments. Powered by a robust 5 HP motor, it easily handles dense hardwoods and wide stock, while the 20-inch planing capacity improves efficiency by reducing the need for multiple passes. The helical cutterhead features 100 four-sided carbide inserts that provide quieter operation, reduced tear-out, and a finer surface finish than conventional straight-knife systems. Self-indexing inserts seat automatically, eliminating the need for a setup gauge and minimizing downtime during knife changes. A 5-inch dust port connects easily to standard dust collection systems for effective chip removal. Anti-kickback fingers and a precision pressure bar are positioned close to the cutterhead to enhance safety and ensure consistent, high-quality results. Built for long-term production use, the planer includes a solid cast iron base, table, and head, along with a precision-ground cast iron table supported by four steel columns for excellent stability when planing larger workpieces. Heavy cast iron extension wings maintain table flatness for smooth, accurate cuts. Material feed is driven by a two-speed oil bath gearbox offering feed rates of 24 and 31 feet per minute, with an included gear allowing conversion to four speeds at 16 and 20 FPM for finer finishing, while corrugated infeed and fine-groove outfeed rollers ensure smooth, consistent stock control.
